TMV RNA-based Overexpression Strategy

Tobacco mosaic virus RNA-based overexpression (TRBO) strategy represents a breakthrough in the development of plant expression systems. Briefly, the single module TRBO vector contains the 35S promoter driven replicon that derived from the TMV genome. In addition, the coat protein gene is replaced with a multiple cloning site where the genes of interest (GOI) could be inserted. Typically, the GOI is under the control of a native subgenomic promoter. As a transient expression system, the TRBO vector has been used worldwide due to enormous advantages such as ease of use, high protein expression levels and increased biosafety.
